Welcome to Our School
Tambo Upper Primary School is situated in an idyllic rural setting along the banks of the Tambo River. Our school provides an inclusive education with a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy while challenging and supporting all students to reach their full potential as learners.
Our teaching and learning program is guided by the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0, supported by a multi-tiered system of support to ensure that every student receives the level of challenge and assistance they need to succeed. In the junior years, students participate in an explicit synthetic phonics program, building strong foundations in early reading and writing.
Our school values program — Be a Learner, Be Respectful and Be Responsible — promotes a holistic approach to student wellbeing, engagement and positive relationships. Students also take ownership of their learning through Personal Learning Goals in Literacy and Numeracy, regularly reflecting on their progress and achievements.
We are proud to offer a wide range of learning experiences beyond the classroom. Students participate in weekly multi-age club programs, encouraging collaboration, creativity and connections across year levels. Our Kitchen Garden program promotes healthy habits, where students grow produce in the school garden and then prepare and cook meals in our student kitchen.
The school maintains a strong commitment to student leadership, developing confident role models who contribute positively to the school community.
Tambo Upper Primary School also recognises and values its connection to the Gunai Kurnai First Nations people. The discovery of several cultural artefacts on our school site has strengthened our commitment to acknowledging and respecting the rich cultural history of the area.
With a current enrolment of 80 students, we are proud to maintain small class sizes that support strong relationships and optimal learning environments. Our dedicated staff are vibrant and enthusiastic, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported.
We highly value the partnership between school, students, parents and the wider community. Families regularly engage with the school through assemblies, sporting events and community activities, as well as informal connections at pick-up times. This strong three-way partnership is further supported through our semester student-led conferences, where students proudly present their progress towards their learning goals.
